The exhaustion is more than worth the hours as I look back on Saturday June 21st, the Magical Day of Make Music New York in celebration of the Summer Solstice.

The garden was a step outside the concrete walls that New York city hosts, the weather was nourishing us throughout and the music that emanated from our collage of performers; was a feeling that words can only vaguely even taste!

The event would not have been as successful without musicians and the garden pulling together and sharing equipment. Dean & Quentin for the use of the bass amp, Frank for the drums, Sacha for guitar amp as well as recording studio and all his sound equipment. An especially The Community Garden and all there resources…

May the sun always share its warmth with the 6th Street Avenue B Community of gardeners. (The garden is a self sustaining volunteer organization. all donations are appreciated. check www.6bgarden.org for more info.)

As for the beautiful musicians who I am more than blessed to have met, embraced, and had the greatest pleasure of devouring as they have taken me into their world and make myself and many others feel like part of a community and family; I can only say please always sing from your heart and you will continue to be loved…as you were Saturday, Love prevails!

Thank you :) TracyThorne, Lily & Caroline Meyer, The Brutal East( John, steve, Quentin), Will McCranie, The Fave (Jamie, Kingdom, Ed & Fran), Dave Felipe, Dean Marchi & Travellers (Jonnie, Dave & Sacha), Dave A King, J.D Duvall, Ahmond, Tarrah Reynolds and friend, Amura, Allen Gogarty & the Wadds (Aaron, Dean & Sacha), Ansel Matthews, The Street Singers and Sage Singers, Anthony Stanford, Bobby Syvarth & Mike, Adem Tesfaye & Barnabas, Anthony Russo, Shut Up,Junior!!!, Taharqa with Billy Spaceman and band. Joff Wilson and friends of the garden!

Our barbecue that fed the mass, was prepped and lasted all day thanks to many helpers especially Sacha, Judy, Anthony,The Meyer Sisters, Dave F and in particular Melissa who graced the spatula throughout! (Thanks Ansel for that Shrimp treat Mmm!)

Last but far from least, Thank you to our wonderful host Sacha Chavez for assuring the consistency and flow of a great show and for his endless love for the arts and the people! :)

If you missed our day of music check our artists on www.myspace.com/welcometomicclub the top 20 friends just put on a show like no other!

Love to all

Frances:)

MAKE MUSIC NEW YORK

Make Music New York is a new live, free musical celebration across NYC each June 21st.

On that day, public space throughout the five boroughs – sidewalks, parks, community gardens, and more – become impromptu musical stages, dance floors, and social meeting points. Thousands of amateur musicians, in every genre, perform on sidewalks for the biggest crowds of their lives. Professional musicians perform for new audiences, who come out from under their headphones to hear unfamiliar groups risk-free. And everyone is invited to sing along and enjoy the first day of summer.

THIS IS THE FESTIVAL I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR… THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENJOY THE ARTISTS FROM MIC-CLUB (ON ONE WHOLE DAY) WHO HAVE BEEN SUPPORTERS AND PERFORMERS OVER THE LAST TWO AND HALF YEARS.
