The streets are often synonymous with crime, learning bad habits, or even running from the past. In the case of Lamont Thompson who grew up with the hands on lessons of DC, he emerged as a free thinker and took the opposing route that many peers got caught up in. Influenced by music, strong women, and drive, he is following his passions. A college graduate, business man, and rapper he pulls from all things that make him who he is. When it comes to the artist in him, he gives these sentiments on his love affair with hip hop. “Rap is my stress reliever. Whether I’m talking about previous relationships, current situations, being in college, etc, it gives me the space to be completely me. The microphone doesn’t judge me so I give it to the microphone all the way turned up and real.

Marc Khami – having discovered our Open-Mic has come by week after week experimenting and sharing his music; but more importantly he has given his support to all the artists who relentlessly share a piece of themselves. There is nothing more comforting that to be near an artist who is not afraid to be Emotionally Naked. All he needs now is a Harley Davidson Chopper and a record deal. Mic-Club is artistic vessel for artists to gather, perform, share and grow. I realize how important it is to fan the flames of artistic morale. Local Talent prevails the value of gold. This is as authentic as it gets. To be able to experience a soul expressing itself through the means of art is a gift that aids in my spiritual growth. Of course, something this beautiful has to be shared.

This Thursday, Poet of Laughter (AKA comedian) Tyler Fisher will conjure material through his experiences to bring you a blanket of happy hysteria. He has all the great traits of a cabaret, slap stick and one liner comedian that makes his performance one of a kind. You simply will not know where he will hit you with his wittiness. One of the most creative acts I have ever witnessed, Tyler Fisher will have you waking up the next day, laughing hysterically from a memory he implanted. Trust me. That happened to me before. A guarantee laugh a minute this week at Mic-Club!

The Big Lonesome is brothers Chad and Luke Gosselin, Joe Ziemba, and Jerry Looper. Each member is one part of a sound memorable for its complete honesty, jarring purity, and unique brand of songwriting. The group is rooted in an Americana and Alt. Country tradition where the songbook is the focal point of the music. Bands like Wilco, the Avett Brothers, and Band of Horses are clear influences. On stage the group shows an immense sensitivity to dynamics and instrumentation. Each member of the Big Lonesome is a skilled multi-instrumentalist coloring their music with the sounds of the pedal steel, slide guitar, and mandolin.

The ability to find the humor at any given situation even in the most stagnant driest moments requires a perfectly forged, sharp mind. The etymology of the word comedy , “komodios” is broken down to “poems” and “storytelling”. Hence, I label these warriors of entertainment, Poets of Laughter.

Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to introduce or re-introduce a Poet of Laughter like no other. This is Sagar Bhatt. He will enchant you into a world of the silly and absurd. I have seen him many times and many times I find myself on the floor about to puke out a lung from all the hard gut laughter my body is projecting. I have seen him many times and still get amazed on how natural he makes it all seem.

There must be something in the air. Many are going through hard times and for this I encourage all of you to visit our little space that I call Mic-Club; an Open-Mic for the Emotionally Naked a.k.a , The Mecca of Local Talent. Do yourselves a favor and come laugh away your troubles.
